1.12.18 Fishing Report

Unlike last year, this winter actually feels, well, wintery. It's been pretty darn cold out there as of late, but with the cold comes the flows! 'Tis the season for streamers, with the browns coming off the spawn, feeding heavily on the big meal tickets to get their weight back up. The bite has been very good lately, with good numbers of browns succumbing to 6-8 flies. We are seeing big morning pushes of water to accommodate the need for electricity for folks to warm their homes and offices, in the 9,000-18,000 bfs range! This is primo! Even on the slightly warmer days when the flows are in the 1-2 unit range, the bite has been rock solid. A few days ago, Sam was the only angler in my boat. He landed 9 browns with 6 of them over 20" in the lower flows. Knowing the type of water these fish hold in different flows is key. They will eat, you just gotta go get em!
